Rome satisfies residents and the culture-loving or curious with a selection of plans and sights to suit all tastes.


2ND / PARIS
Paris breathes culture and that’s something the survey’s respondents value. So much so that it takes second place in the top 10 best cities for culture behind Rome and neck and neck with Madrid. Practically everything in the city is bathed in a strong cultural force that has characterised the city for decades. Its theatres, exhibition galleries, streets, and museums give room for all kinds of manifestations of the French personality. This helps to make enjoying Parisian culture simple and accessible.


3RD / MADRID
El tiempo en Madrid, aunque ha cambiado en los últimos años, continúa estando dentro de una clasificación flexible en la que predomina la definición de clima mediterráneo continentalizado. Esto significa que, si bien cuenta con factores dominantes del clima del Mediterráneo, se adapta a su posición lejana del mar con una temperatura media de alrededor 15ºC y menor nivel de lluvia.


4TH / VIENNA
The city has one of the largest varieties of museums to be found in the country, many of them being in the Museumsquartier, making it possible to spend a day of cultural entertainment with the family. In addition, Vienna is also noted for its theatres, especially those used for live opera performances.


5TH / THE HAGUE
There are several areas in The Hague that concentrate much of the city’s cultural attractions, such as the Binnenhof and Scheveningen areas. Here you can find museums, live music venues and theatres, as well as other attractions that will appeal to all kinds of people.


6TH / BARCELONA
Barcelona has a totally different cultural style to other cities in Spain, which helps to make the experience of visiting these places while living in Spain so satisfying. There are dozens of interesting museums in Barcelona, such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia. Art lovers can also visit the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, where many of the works of leading Catalan artists are on display.


7TH / MILAN
Milan comes seventh in the culture category according to our respondents. It does so thanks to places like the Castello Sforzesco, a historic fortification that is surrounded by museums and places of interest with all kinds of exhibitions. Of course, respondents’ mentions highlight the popular Duomo as the city’s main tourist attraction.


8TH / AMSTERDAM
For hundreds of years Amsterdam has been one of the cities with the most cultural presence, being home to theatres and other renowned cultural facilities. Over the ages many of these centres have remained open, although some more traditional venues have reduced their relevance in favour of newer cultural offerings.


9TH / BERLIN
In recent years there has been a strong cultural movement that has transformed Berlin into one of the great European cities for the cultural environment. Many artists from different disciplines have moved to the German capital with the intention of enjoying its great cultural contribution and the many activities on offer.


10TH / ROTTERDAM
Rotterdam and Amsterdam often compete for the unofficial title of most cultural city in the Netherlands. In our ranking, respondents placed Rotterdam in tenth position, two places below Amsterdam, giving more recognition to the city of canals.
